ORNAMENTAL
GRASSES:
Pot grown clumps £1.42, £2.14, £2.86, £3.78, £4.09 or £4.75 each depending
on variety. We grow a small range of ornamental grasses, evergreen
sedges and pampas grass; cultivated for their colourful foliage, or
impressive flowers.
Having originated in bog, moorland, or damp woodland, the sedges like wet
soil, but the rest
really prefer well-drained positions. Depending on variety the foliage condition
of evergreen grasses may deteriorate over the winter period; it improves again
when new leaves appear in spring.

Although they will grow in most soils and tolerate being in sun or
partial shade, success is most likely if they are planted in full sun in a
fertile, well drained soil. Allow plenty of space for the clump to
develop.
Protect the crown during the first winter and remember that
the clump needs to be old enough to flower. Provided the clump is growing well
and has good summer foliage it will eventually start to produce its distinctive plumes
in late
summer.
Remove old, dead leaves and flower stems in spring. Always
use heavy-duty leather gardening gloves and suitable clothing when handling the
leaves. The leaf margins (edges) are razor-sharp.
