We grow an extensive range of
French Marigolds.
Light yellow, bright yellow, gold, gold with red flecks,
orange, red, mixed colours and several bicolour varieties.
They will
grow happily in most soils and, while preferring a sunny position, are quite adaptable,
giving a good display in most situations.
20cm (8 inches) or 15cm (6 inches).
MESEMBRYANTHEMUM (KNOWN LOCALLY AS ICE PLANTS OR LIVINGSTONE DAISIES).
Mixed
colours. Direct sunlight is essential to fully open the flowers. Deadhead
regularly to maintain repeat flowering (the flower stems are surprisingly
difficult to nip off, use secateurs). 10cm (4 inches).
MESEMBRYANTHEMUM.
We also grow an early-flowering, yellow variety with purple
eye, which seems to need much less light to open. 10cm (4 inches).
NEMESIA.
Easy to grow and very showy, will grow on any soil (but is not too
fond of lime) and likes sun or light shade. Watering in dry weather and lightly
clipping back the first dead flowers is essential. Besides the usual mixed
colours we grow small quantities of red & white, blue & white and orange
varieties. 20cm (8 inches).
NICOTIANA.
Dwarf mixed, prefers a well-drained soil, but will thrive in sun
or light shade. 38cm (15 inches).

look at and close during daylight hours. Ideal for twilight, patio evenings.
Usually only reaches 60cm (24 inches) in this district, but could grow taller.
PETUNIA (MULTIFLORA).
Masses of brightly-coloured, trumpet flowers; they will
grow on most soils and, while preferring full sun, should be successful if
receiving three or more hours of direct sunlight every day. Deadheading, feeding
and cutting back if they grow too straggly will keep your display going on much
longer. 20cm (8 inches).
PHLOX.
Dwarf-mixed in both the solid and serrated petal forms, the flowers
are grouped together to form large, brightly-coloured heads. Dislikes being
overwatered. 15cm (6 inches).
PORTULACA (SUN PLANT).
As the name suggests, these plants love the sun. They
have a spreading habit, small, fleshy, succulent leaves and bright flowers. Do
not plant in the shade, overfeed, or water unless they are actually wilting.
10cm (4 inches).
STOCK.
A very reliable bedding plant producing large flower spikes in mainly
pastel shades (some are scented). Grows in sun or light shade, but does not like
the soil to be too acid. 30cm (12 inches).
TAGETES.
Produce an abundance of small marigold flowers above finely-divided
leaves. Do not overwater or overfeed. They will grow on most soils, but need
more direct sun than French marigolds. Tangerine, gold or lemon varieties. 20cm
(8 inches).

NASTURTIUM (SPREADING).
A mixture of yellows, oranges and reds. They require
a well-drained position, but will grow well in sun or shade. Don't overfeed or
they will produce too much leaf. 15cm (6 inches).
NASTURTIUM (TRAILING).
We grow a variegated leaf-form for baskets and tubs,
these plants are less aggressive and should not strangle their neighbours. Mixed
colours.

white trumpets.
Trailing, basket plant.
NOLANA.
Bright-blue trumpets with white throats. Prefers a sunny position,
deadhead regularly. Trailing habit.

of small, yellow, star-like flowers. Keep up to trimming back dead flower heads
and water well in dry weather. Trailing habit.

MARIGOLD (TRIPLOID).
These are a hybrid cross between dwarf, French Marigolds
and larger, African Marigolds. They are naturally sterile and so put more of
their energy into producing flowers; they don't need deadheading as often so are
ideal for containers which are awkward to get to. Yellow, orange, or mixed
colours. 30cm (12 inches).
PETUNIA (GRANDIFLORA).
Star-flowered, mixed (each flower has a white star at
the centre) or picotee (each flower is edged with white). Brightly-coloured,

profusion of smaller, weather-resistant flowers making them ideal for pots,
tubs, baskets etc. They will grow on most soils and, while preferring full sun,
